Featured Question:
"Companies with Annual profits less than a hundred crore (INR) have shares valued more than 1000 or more rupees. while the companies having good profits (more than a hundred crores) have shares at rupees less than 100. Why?"
Share value has nothing to do with the company's profits.
Share value does not tell us about the size of the company or its operations.
A giant company can also have a very low price.
This is adjusted by the number of shares in the market.
Share Price x Number of shares = Market Capitalization
Market Capitalization tells us about the size of the company and its operations.
Example:
Reliance Share Price: Rs. 2,860
Reliance Market Cap: Rs. 19.28 Lakh crore.
vs
MRF Share Price: Rs. 1,25,000
MRF Market Cap: Rs. 0.53 Lakh Crore.
