The truth about COVISHIELD

As of the 18th of May, 2021, in India, a total of 18.5 crore doses of vaccines have been given and a major part of that number is held by COVISHIELD, a made in India by SERUM INSTITUTE OF INDIA.

Is COVISHIELD Indian made?

A committee set up by United Nations, talked and drafted a report on every major vaccine produced by different nations and companies, in which they talk about how similar is Oxford's AstraZeneca and SERUM's Covishield. Basically, these two are twins as the SERUM INSTITUTE OF INDIA hasn't produced any different formula than the rest of the world. But in the reality, it has got the right to produced Oxford's AstraZeneca in name of Covishield. This was later confirmed by the AEFI committee(Indian Health Ministry) in a later report. The report was on an issue that is faced by various health institutions in the country.

COVISHIELD reported bleeding and clotting?

More than 13.5 crore doses of Covishield have been given to Indians in the vaccination process till now, according to government dataGovernment Statistics Website.

The National AEFI (Adverse Event Following Immunization) Committee in its report to Union Health Ministry said that the bleeding and clotting cases of Covid-19 vaccination COVISHIELD are very few in the country and minuscule but in line with other CoronaVirus vaccines, from any other country.

"AEFI data in India showed that there is a very minuscule but definitive risk of thromboembolic events. The reporting rate of these events in India is around 0.61/10 lakh doses, which is very lower than the 4 cases/10 lakh doses by UK's regulator Medical and health Regulatory Body (MHRA). Germany has reported 10 cases/10 lakh doses," the report said.

"There were no potential thromboembolic events reported following the administration of Covaxin vaccine," it added.

More than 23,000 adverse events were reported through the CoWin Platform by 684 out of 753 districts in the country, since the biginning of Covid-19 drive, as of April 3. Only 700 cases of these (9.3/10 lakh doses administered) were reported to be severe and serious nature, according the report. SOURCE: Hindstan Times.
